Micro Dimmer.

Micro Dimmer Wiring Schematics

This guide will help you with the wiring of Aeon Labs’ in-wall micro dimmer. In a lot of the countries where Aeon Labs’ products can be bought, this wiring should only be performed by a licensed electrician. Please stay safe and abide by your local legal requirements.

No Live Wires on the External Switch: For the Micro dimmer, you cannot have any live wires connected to the external switch or you will burn the micro out.

External Switch Choices for the Micro Dimmer: Below are some explanations on some of the external switch choices that you may use for the micro dimmer.

1) Momentary Push Button: This is the recommended external switch for the Micro Dimmer, you can hold down the momentary push button to dim up or dim down the load. Or you may tap the momentary switch to turn it on/off.

2) 2-Way: This is the general choice to use as a external switch, it will practically just turn your micro dimmer on or off.

3) 3-Way/4-Way (WARNING): This will not work on the older generation micro dimmer. These switch configurations are only applicable to the Micro Dimmer G2, or Micro Smart Dimmer G2.

Input Wires: 14AWG copper wires should be used on the output of the 3-way/4-way external switch.

Output Wires: 18AWG copper wires should be used on the output of the 3-way/4-way external switch.

4) Dimmer Switch: We recommend that you do not use a dimmer switch, it will not dim the micro dimmer. You will be left with having to twist or pull the switch all the way across to make it turn the lights on or off.

No External Switch Wiring Diagram: For those using their micro’s without an external switch. You can control your lamp without an external switch with any Z-Wave controller, software, and/or the small push button on the back of the micro.

The 2 wiring diagrams below will be basis for every wiring diagram you see for any Micro Switch or Micro Dimmer. You can decide to attach a external switch if you decide to add it in later, refer to the schematics below for reference.

2-Way or Momentary Switch Wiring Schematic Without Live WiringAttaching a 2-way switch or a momentary switch is very simple. Just connect 2 wires to the 2-way or momentary switch then connect the 2 wires (doesn’t matter which way) to the 2 terminals next to the 3V terminal.

3-Way Wiring Diagram Without Live Wiring: Connecting the 3-way/4-way external switch can be very complicated and may require you to pull more wires in between the 2 gang boxes. We suggest that you speak to a professional electrician before trying these schematics below.
